Getting a Korean SIM
Without a Korean number you cannot use delivery apps, banking or most bookings. Do this on day one.

Steps
- Buy a prepaid SIM at the airport — Carrier booths in the arrivals hall at Incheon and Gimhae sell 30-day prepaid SIMs with just your passport. No residence card needed.
- Switch to an MVNO after your ARC arrives — Budget carriers (MVNO) cost far less. You can keep the same number by porting it.
- Make sure the number supports identity verification — Banks, government sites and delivery apps require a verifiable number. Avoid data-only SIMs.
- Check eSIM support — If your phone supports eSIM you can keep your home number active alongside the Korean one.

Good to know
- Prepaid SIMs expire. Set a calendar reminder before the end date.
- Many carrier shops have limited English. Airport booths and foreigner desks are easier.
